Ghoulish folk take note: It’s that time of the year when local spookiness begins reaching a zenith and pumpkin smashing reaches a fevered pitch. At the top of our Hallowed To Do List is Vampire Beat, the annual fundraiser that takes over the PAVED / AKA event space along with Village Guitar and The Underground Café. Aside from all the costumed catawampus, make sure to check out The Spacemints, Ursa, Form and others this Saturday. Also, don’t forget about the annual Halloween for Humanity, which sees local musicians assembling into otherworldly versions of bands that perform songs by other bands – check it at Vangelis also this Saturday. And if you’re into all things metal and heavy, there are two nights of Screamfest, which are taking place this weekend at Vangelis and Louis’ – highlights here include Lavagoat, Untimely Demise and Agony Spawn.
