Untimely Demise – Untimely Demise has been playing their powerhouse style of death/thrash metal to Canadian audiences since 2006, when the band was created by brothers Murray and Matthew Cuthbertson. Turning some heads with their debut EP “Full Speed Metal” (produced by Glen Drover – formerly of Megadeth) in 2009, Untimely Demise followed up their debut with 3 full length studio albums over the years (2/3 being produced with Drover). Over the years they have toured Canada extensively; and in 2014 toured the UK, Germany and Belgium with Massacre. Most recently they have celebrated their 4th release, the acclaimed album “Black Widow” (2016). Untimely Demise has opened for such critically acclaimed acts as Razor, Kataklysm, Goatwhore, 3 Inches of Blood, Anvil, and many more; as well as receiving high praise from metal media such as Metal Hammer, Decibel, Terrorizer, and others. Reviewers on invisibleoranges.com, a website and blog spot for the world of Canadian metal today, say that ‘Black Widow’ is “… easily their most varied and accessible work to date, finding an impeccable balance between blinding speed, classic heavy metal dynamics, and the searing guitar work of Matt Cutherbertson…”. “Black Widow” is available at http://untimelydemise.bandcamp.com .

Agony Spawn
The name Agony Spawn has become known in every corner of the Saskatchewan metal scene, where the groove/thrash band has been reaching ears since 2010. By combining aspects of old-school metal with their adrenaline-drunken take on what metal is today, Agony Spawn puts on the kind of show you can’t look away from – the headbanger’s finest inspiration. Taking notes from bands like Dying Fetus, Gojira, and Lamb of God; this group is always ready to turn the crowd on its end, and have some fun.
After sowing their seeds with their two EPs, ‘Metal Vitality’ and ‘Engineering Obliteration’ (2010, 2012); Agony Spawn released their first full length album ‘Demonstration of Evisceration’ (2014). The momentum from this most recent release has yet to die down, as they continue to be a highly sought-after band in Saskatchewan. Their resume is always getting more impressive, most recently having announced that they will be opening for British heavy-metal giants Diamond Head and Saskatoon’s New Jacobin Club at the Capitol Music Club on September 30th. Agony Spawn has also frequently enjoyed the pleasure of headlining shows for a bevy of Saskatoon locals; bringing their loyal followers, and high intensity to any venue.
Don’t miss night #2 of Saskatoon Screamfest III on Saturday, October 28th at Louis’, where Agony Spawn will play as direct support to headliners Untimely Demise! We are happy to bring Agony Spawn into the Saskatoon Screamfest family, and can’t wait to see what they have in store for the future. Screamfest III is still a while away, but ticket availability will be announced soon – and for now, Agony Spawn’s recent video of their new song “Infectious” will have to do:

Between Now and Then
October 28th is fast approaching, and we have another newcomer band to welcome to our mini-fest. The Regina based Between Now and Then have spent the last year solidifying their name in western Canada. Impressing crowds with their high energy stage presence (sometimes making that floor presence) the band does not let limitations like stage size get in their way. Their lyrics have a Biblical basis, which when blended with their progressive-metalcore influence, creates a powerful display of sight and sound.
Since the New Year, Between Now & Then have been making great strides. They have been working on a full-length record, and taking the time to hit up Saskatoon regularly in the process to share their work with us. Over the last week they have had the pleasure of supporting Northlane, and Intervals, for the SK dates on their Canada tour, once again showing that they are a sonic force to be reckoned with! You can count on an electrifying performance on the Louis’ stage for Saskatoon Screamfest III.
Since their upcoming album is their first release since their debut EP “Collections”, their followers have been holding their breath for the follow up. Between Now & Then has received high recognition in their online community, showing an excellent consistency in maintaining interest in what they do in areas far beyond home. They have the reception that is required for a band at their level to really take off, and this next album could be that push. Check out the lyric video for their single “Selah”, from their debut EP “Collections”, and see/hear for yourself. Join us on October 28th at night #2 of Saskatoon Screamfest III at Louis’, and experience the raw energy.
Hell Hounds
Hell Hounds is Saskatchewan’s premiere symphonic power-metal band, working technical guitars into their fast-paced rhythm section. Topped off with the smooth, sometimes operatic, stylings of vocalist Viviana Aaren. Hell Hounds has seen a successful couple years, making great progress in their home province. Most recently, with the release of an EP, they have snagged the attention of metal lovers all over Saskatchewan. As they are able to bring something wholly unique to a bill, they were an obvious choice for Screamfest III; and are sure to impress with their steady pacing and symphonic hooks, that bring you back to some of metal’s most ancient influences today.
Hell Hounds just released their debut EP “Paint the World” on August 29th of this year. In addition to becoming locally successful in their own right, Hell Hounds has had the pleasure of opening for such groups as Valyria, Sovereign Council, and Foresaken Rite; making their way through Saskatchewan and Alberta. You can find the title track from their EP “Paint the World” on Youtube; and can access the entire this track by finding the digital copy on iTunes, GooglePlay, and more! If you want to get the whole album, catch them at their next show, drop them a line – or go to their merch link here: http://www.hell-hounds.ca/merch . They’ve just returned from their tour, so the next time they are scheduled to appear in Saskatoon is night #2 of Saskatoon Screamfest III.
This is Hell Hounds’ first Saskatoon Screamfest, and they bring a level of variety to our lineup that we couldn’t appreciate more! Experience the EP first hand at Saskatoon Screamfest III (NIGHT #2), when Hell Hounds will play alongside some of the best thrash and core groups Saskatchewan has to offer. Weekend passes for the mini-fest are now available from Louis’, Vangeli’s and Mainstage Urban Clothing, and are just $25. You can also get night passes from each of the respective venues. For now, buff up on Thalass’ tracks so you can throw down with style on October 27th. Until then, check out the title track from Hell Hounds’ debut EP – “Paint the World”.

In Ruin
In Ruin has spent 8 years working the Saskatoon metalcore scene throughout various lineup changes, and recording hang-ups. Since their return from a lengthy hiatus from early 2014 to late 2015; In Ruin has released a full-length album, gone on tour, and gone through yet more lineup changes. They have begun work on a new EP, and plan to tour again in the spring.
One advantage to replacing members frequently is having more creative influences on the music. In Ruin says the upcoming EP is a culmination of more than one manifestation of the band, and by this token, carries a lot of variety and fresh concepts; while still maintaining the progressive edge on their song structure.
In Ruin has had the pleasure of opening for such acts as Fear Before, Blind Witness, Baptized in Blood, Fall City Fall, and more! The upcoming EP hasn’t received a title yet, but physical copies of In Ruin’s full length album “Murmurs” are available from the band. Digital versions can be streamed, or purchased from iTunes, GooglePlay, Bandcamp, Amazon, Spotify, and others. For now check out their recent lyric video for “Knuckles Deep In Your Uncle’s Catfish”. You can catch In Ruin at Saskatoon Screamfest III (NIGHT #2) alongside some other amazing SK bands! Don’t miss your opportunity to pick up a $25 weekend pass from Vangelis Tavern , Louis’ or MainStage Urban Clothing – and we will see everyone in a couple weeks!
