Tonight It’s Poetry finds new home at The Bassment

Following the closure of Lydia’s, Saskatoon poetry series finds new host venue

Tonight It’s Poetry, a Saskatoon spoken word series, has announced that the bulk of their shows will now be performed at The Bassment.

The announcement was made on the group’s Facebook page via host and promoter Charles Hamilton.

The long-running poetry series was a mainstay at Lydia’s, a Broadway-area bar. However, the venue’s closure in July, 2013 forced TIP organizers to seek out a new stage for their events.

Founded in 2008, Tonight It’s Poetry has since given local poets and spoken word artists a venue. The group has sent a slam team to the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word for the past four years, in addition to bringing the festival to Saskatoon in October 2012.

The first show of the 2013 season of Tonight It’s Poetry features spoken word artist Brent Chappell, which goes down at The Bassment on September 8.
