Remember when the all ages scene ruled the roost in Saskatoon? While so many punk, hardcore, rock, hip-hop, weirdo-whatever-type shows are typically confined to licensed venues these days, a number of promoters are aiming to bring more of these events to the all ages crowd. Expect to start seeing more of these shows popping up around town, placing bands in unconventional venues like skate parks and noodle restaurants, where Man Meat and respectfulchild will be performing on Saturday. As for this weekend’s picks, we are making sure to get to O’Brian’s Jimmy Eat World show nice and early for openers Beach Slang. Also, do make sure to check out Xembryos rock Amigos with Napalmpom and B.A. Johnston on Saturday, Kid in the Hall Kevin McDonald at the Broadway Theatre on Friday, and the frightening tag-team of Grey Light District and Arson Cult at Vangelis on Monday.
