And while Pyramids will be available at the upcoming release show, it will not be available online until the official release.

And that’s all just the tip of the iceberg.

In addition to launching their remix contest – the selected winner will receive $200 plus have their remix released nationally with the single – We Were Lovers will also be opening for Metric at the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival on June 22.

Ominocity caught up with Ash and Elsa from We Were Lovers and got some details on Pyramids, the remix contest and their never ending summer of fun.

Ominocity: What can fans expect from the upcoming album?

We Were Lovers: We feel the band has grown immensely over the years and that this upcoming album kind of captures a snapshot of the growth from last year and the year prior. We don’t put restrictions on our songwriting or make a conscious choice to go in any one specific direction versus another. The end result is a very eclectic group of songs that vary from dance/disco to grittier songs with an edge but still maintaining a pop feel, overall.

OM: What sort of results are you expect from the remix contest?

WWL: We think the remix contest is a great way to get our fans involved and to truly be a part of the music. It’s been really exciting to hear how other artists interpret our music. Each person has their own unique style and put a totally different spin on it by taking different elements and cutting them up, flipping them around and rearranging the song in a completely different way. They truly make it their own and we’re excited to share them and get a couple remixes officially released across North America.
