What to do in Saskatoon: Winterruption edition: Weaves, Wild Black, Wake

Weaves and Nites Out

Infectiously catchy, dazzling talent: Weaves is sure to devastate everyone in attendance during the 2020 iteration of Winterruption, this Wednesday at Amigos. So maybe you heard? There’s a thing happening this week and it’s going to completely rule? What are your top Winterruption picks? Here’s some of ours:

Wild Black, Eekwol and T-Rhyme

Maybe you remember her from such cool local projects like We Were Lovers, The Radiation Flowers, and From Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z? Elsa Gebremichael is back as Wild Black, and she’s about to melt your face off. Need more convincing to drag yourself out to this one? Eekwol and T-Rhyme have been killing it lately – this Friday at Amigos.

WAKE, Obroa-Skai and Man Meat

For those who like their Winterruptions loud, fast and heavy, there are plenty of quality options this year (and thank you for that!). This is a really good one: When it comes to grindcore, few bands these days can top the overwhelming barrage of wrath and aggression unloaded on the listener/spectator by Calgary’s WAKE. Happening this Saturday at the Black Cat.

Girlfriend Material and Surf Dads

Composed of members from Tokyo Police Club and Hollerado, Girlfriend Material is the most anticipated supergroup since someone decided to put ketchup and mustard in the same damn bottle. This Wednesday at the Capitol.

Leif Vollebekk, Hannah Epperson and Little Criminals

Sunday funday: Come get chill and cozy with Montreal’s Leif Vollebekk and pontificate on how you interrupted your winter: This Sunday at the Broadway Theatre with the added caveat that every ticket holder will receive a FREE popcorn and drink (non-alcoholic).
