It’s taken over five years, but Saskatoon’s frenetic pal-core Soul Mates are finally ready to release their debut album.
Entitled Snake Oil – a simmering blast of energy that distills the eeriest of punk with the poison-tipped tendrils of hardcore – the upcoming album will be available on digital platforms, and is also available on limited-edition white vinyl via the group’s Bandcamp page. Opening with a snarl of a guitar riff, the single rips with a stuttering drum pound and patches of howling noise – think of it as devastating dance party music for those of us who don’t mind having our toes stepped on. Repeatedly and relentlessly.
Listen to “Thought Control” below.
Soul Mates will be releasing the album on Friday, October 7 at Amigos Cantina, a show that also happens to be a CFCR FM-Phasis fundraiser. So do the right thing ding dong.
