Ominocity brings the holiday party to Vangelis on December 19
Black Friday? Cyber Monday? BARF!
Today is Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to giving back and encouraging activities that support charity and community.
Ominocity would like to take this opportunity to announce our Christmas party at Vangelis on December 19 with our best buds Despistado and Phalec Baldwin.
Proceeds from every ticket sold will be donated to the Saskatoon Food Bank and we’ll be accepting additional food and monetary donations at the venue. ‘Tis the season of giving so let’s do all we can for our community!
Rumour has it that Chris and Ryan will DJ battle into the wee hours of the morning so expect a wild night!
The triumphant return of Despistado
Despistado first burst out from the basements of Regina back in 2001 with a sound unlike most others in the province. Emerging at a time when music writers typically described similar sounds as “angular”, the four-piece, comprised of childhood friends Dagan Harding, Leif Thorseth, Brenan Schwartz and Joel Passmore, combined bouncy rhythms with guitars that were both melodic and melancholic. Live, they exuded pure vitality and fun.
Simply put, Despistado was a rare combination of musicianship where urgency meets intelligence.
And then it all fell apart… or did it?!
Join the cult of Phalec Baldwin
Phalec Baldwin come from a world where pellucid soundscapes crash nonchalantly into dance sways and awkward singalong choruses. On “Burnout Goldmine” the group combines morbid psyche riffs with shimmery pop drones, and surrounds it all with a dystopic sense of foreboding.
