Running from July 6 to July 8, WakeRide packed Saskatoon’s Victoria Park with people looking to enjoy the sun, the sports and the shirtless. This event gets better every year, and, even better, donates a chunk of change to local charities.
Strangely enough, despite boasting another stellar line-up, the music seemed to take a bit of backseat this year. Although attendance appeared to be up from 2011, and performances from Chali 2na, MSTRKRFT and K’Naan ruled the school, it seemed like most were more stoked on the guys doing backflips on dirtbikes and the dudes rocking the slider pool. Fair enough – the athletes were actually quite entertaining.
Maybe those dudes in Library Voices should get the lead out and do a few more flying scissor kicks when they play, eh?
