Back when I was a precocious (awkward) 15-year-old, one of my favourite songs at the time was “I Wanna Hump You” by Chixdiggit.
That probably had something to do with the fact that I had just lost my virginity at the time. Sigh…
But also because I was listening to a lot of old school punk rock and Chixdiggit was a whole other beast – they were actually sort of fey, bouncy and fun.
And when I saw them at Phat City, Saskatoon’s de facto punk club in the latter half of 1995, I remember being pressed up against the stage by a throng of screaming girls. And my best friend grabbed me and yelled into my ear “I guess chix really do dig it.”
And now that 16 grueling, graying, balding, divorcing years have passed, I am really, really interested to see if chix still dig it.
