Greg Rekus, Soul Mates and Me the Guts at Vangelis
September 8, 2017 @ 10:00 pm - September 9, 2017 @ 2:00 am
A diverse night full of punk rock featuring Greg Rekus from Winnipeg and Saskatoons own Me the Guts and Soul Mates.
With an acoustic guitar, giant stomp box, and punk rock tucked away in his back pocket, Greg Rekus’ unique brand of Folk Punk or “Riot Folk” is like no other. Live, Greg’s energy and enthusiasm engages crowds of all styles and configurations around the world. The lyrical content stretches from drinking in your favorite bar, to relationships, political jousting, life in general, and more. His energy level is rivaled by few solo artists, and he is most known for strumming the hell out of an acoustic guitar and stomping the beat out on his custom built stomp box.
Gearing up for a western canadian tour with a new bassist (Patrick Eaton formally of Streetlight Scenery/Old Problems/Castaway), two showcases at Break Out West in Edmonton and a nomination for a WCMA for best Metal/Hard Music Artist of the year for their debut release “Snake Oil”, Soul Mates are a band you don’t want to miss.
“An ill-mannered rock ‘n’ roll outfit with tweaked-out riffs for miles and swagger to burn. They have the elusive severity of classic hardcore, but with an evolved and bizarre approach to tapping into that sound.” – Skot Hamilton (KEN mode/Adolyne/Grey Light District)
