Saskatoon techno producer to release single on Skylab Records
Dislexik, a Saskatoon-based techno producer is up to it again, is dropping his latest single entitled “Juggernaut”, which will see release on local label Skylab Records.
To celebrate, Skylab will be holding an event at Le Relais on Saturday night featuring Flatland Funk from Regina, along with locals US Marshall, DJ Mama Purl along with Dislexik.
Dislexik, otherwise known as Jeff Prankev, has been creating electronic music for 20 years, with this year marking the 10th anniversary of his first commercial release. In that time he has worked with ten labels, both Canadian and internationally. The styles have ranged from his earlier breakbeat works to his ongoing tech house releases on Gold N Tech Records and more recently, harder techno.
If there was a commonality to all of these genre-jumping releases, it would be the use of dark textures and melodies. This isn’t that surprising since he comes from a background of industrial and heavy metal music and was the longtime drummer and programmer for local horror rockers The New Jacobin Club. He is currently rehearsing with them for a couple of fill-in gigs in June.
