Artists gather in Victoria Park amidst a chill vibe and many smiling faces
Victoria Park was a magical place this past weekend. The beautiful downtown park was transformed into a warm and intimate festival grounds that featured an amazing lineup of world-class folk musicians. The Regina Folk Festival had a very chill vibe and many smiling faces — it was not rare to see performers like Hayden and Bahamas relaxing on a blanket in the park enjoying the musicianship of their fellow artists.
Soul singer Charles Bradley’s performance blew everyone away and it was touching to see him receive a bouquet of roses early on in his set. Niyaz’s performance featured a talented dancer performing a whirling dervish on stage that was profoundly powerful and hypnotic. Festival headliner Neko Case charmed the audience with her edgy attitude and I was pretty pumped to see Rah Rah perform a cover of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” at the festival after party at the German Club.
If you missed the festival be sure to check it out next year. It’s totally worth a trip down to the Queen City.
