Indigo Joseph release “Others” after winning Battle of the Bands

Regina four-piece to invade commercial radio with new song

Indigo Joseph, a Regina-based high-energy rock group, has launched their latest single “Others”.

The song follows their victory with the Queen City Rocks battle of the bands, hosted by Regina radio station The Wolf.

The group recently released a three-song EP entitled Lilith, but, having earned a 300-play radio rotation package with the station, the group decided to go back into Soul Sound Studios to give fans something new.

“We were getting feedback that our EP was really tight and polished but wasn’t really consistent with the sound of our live show,” says drummer Eric Tessier.

“So we went back in to record some live takes with only a few overdubs. The vocal track was the first take. So it definitely has a live feel to it.”

Despite being radio-ready, “Others” has a rawness despite being a pop song to the core. Beginning with a wonderfully off-kilter bass riff and soaring vocals, the song kicks in with a hip-shaking rhythm and a bouncy, hook-laden piano chorus line.

A far looser rock vision than their previous efforts, Tessier said it’s a progressive sound that the band is happy to get on the airwaves.

“As an independent artist we don’t typically have access to commercial radio so that was a real bonus,” says Tessier. “So because we have that in we decided to record a new single rather than put out something that has already been released.

“It’s nice to be acknowledged by a group of peers for doing something well.”
