Local musicians gear up to butcher well-loved songs for charity
Band Swap VII, one of Saskatoon’s most beloved charity events, is returning to Amigos on Dec. 28.
And for those competent enough to play at least one instrument, Band Swap registration opens at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 1st.
Here’s how to register:
1. Be one of the first 28 people to email [email protected] after 12:00pm on Saturday.
2. Be available on the evening of Dec. 27.
3. Be available all day and night on Dec. 28.
4. Commence party.
For all those Band Swap virgins out there here’s how it works: 35 musicians or so are randomly assembled into bands at a swap meet, where they are assigned four cover songs. Each band then has 24 hours to master their songs – or figure out some way to butcher them completely and appropriately.
According to internet conjecture, Band Swap has brought in $22,000 in total over six years to be donated to the Saskatoon Crisis Nursery’s Nutrition Program, along with a mountain of non-perishable food.
