Musical buskers absent from this year’s Fringe

Saskatoon Fringe festival opens this Thursday

The Saskatoon Fringe, produced by the 25th Street Theatre Centre, has announced that they will not be including musical buskers at this year’s festival.

In an article that ran in the Star Phoenix on Tuesday, July 31, festival director Robert Wyma said that the Fringe would not be featuring the buskers due to a variety of concerns and logistical problems.

There is little to no information about the decision to exclude musical buskers on the 25th Street Theatre website, however on the Performance Buskers Registration page was the following message:

Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.

Yup.

The Fringe typically features performances by street artists, jugglers, thespians and dancers in addition to a wide variety of dramatic and theatre productions in the Broadway area of Saskatoon.

The Fringe opens this Thursday, August 2 and runs until the 11.

Look forward to coverage from Ominocity from this year’s Fringe!
