WakeRide, a professional wakeboard competition and music festival in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, hosted a highly diverse festival this past weekend, booking acts including K-OS and indie giants Broken Social Scene in addition to local bands like Sly Business, Ultimate Power Duo and Foam Lake.
The scene was surreal – imagine a pile of shirtless dudes indulging in bro-beers, indie hipsters skulking about next to DJ blasts, and random families partaking in another one of Saskatoon’s riverside events.
Yeah, it was pretty fun.
But whether or not you cared about water sports, indie rock or turntablism, WakeRide has raised $60,000 for local youth programs including KidSport and White Buffalo Youth Lodge, which makes the event all the more important.
Here’s hoping next year is even bigger and better and more shirtless.
