Kayla Howran bio
It doesn’t take long once you start listening to the songs on Kayla Howran’s powerful, moving and melodic new album Spare Parts when you realize you are hearing something truly special – an artist whose musicality, creativity, potent lyrical mastery and soul-baring sensitivity has been elevated to a whole new level.
Propelled by raw lyricism and earthy production, Dylan Ireland’s debut solo album Every Other Night is a powerful statement from an artist ready to carve out new folk-rock terrain.
Co-produced by Ireland and James McKenty (Blue Rodeo, Michelle McAdorey, Matthew Barber), Every Other Night’s stellar cast of contributors includes guitarists Jim Bryson and Gord Tough (Kathleen Edwards), drummer Loel Campbell (Wintersleep) and bassist Anna Ruddick (Daniel Romano, Bry Webb, Randy Bachman).
John Antoniuk, aka “smokekiller”, is a singer-songwriter from Saskatoon, SK. John’s songwriting has been compared to Lou Reed, Weezer, Ryan Adams, and Wilco. “Out There” from the album “13” was selected as a National Finalist in the 2009 Radiostar Songwriting Competition. “13” was the first full length release for John with the smokekiller moniker and was mixed by Steven Drake (the Odds). John originally released two ep’s under the Smokekiller name which he compiled and re-released nationally in 2006. It was the release of the Side A ep which quickly garnered John attention as a songwriter and saw him sharing the stage with Ron Sexsmith and Hayden. In 2011 John recorded an album of new material produced by Leeroy Stagger. “Always With You” was released in September 2012 and John has been back and forth touring across Canada for the last 5 years.
