Listen to The Low Joy Ceiling’s new single “You Look Tired (You Should Smile More)” Track premiere comes in advance of group’s upcoming EP Homemade Fireworks

The idea of homemade fireworks sounds pretty sweet, but, not saying, just saying, they are probably a bad idea.

But, not unlike holding a lighter upside down to make it ignite inside of itself or sparking a cigarette with an entire pack of matches, in the case of Low Joy Ceiling, it’s a fiery, fearsome concept that ends with delightful results.

The namesake of their latest EP, Homemade Fireworks takes the gut-wrenching guitar punch of groups likes Guided By Voices and The Replacements and sets it adrift amidst tongue-in-cheek lyrical play and expressively earnest songwriting. It’s a sound cemented in the group’s split with Surf Dads, a release that made Ominocity’s Favourite Sask. Albums of the Year for 2017.

Consisting of members of Rah Rah, Library Voices and Karpinka Brothers, Low Joy Ceiling’s single “You Look Tired (You Should Smile More)” showcases a band that isn’t afraid to have a bit of fun and reminisce on all the super badass haircuts they had as surly teens.

The entirety of Homemade Fireworks will be dropping on Friday, Jan. 26, along with a physical copy that includes the group’s previous two EPs.
