Sled Island adds over 50 bands to 2014 line-up

Shooting Guns and Slow Down Molasses among acts to play Calgary festival

Sled Island, Calgary’s premiere music festival, has just revealed their second wave of acts for their 2014 line-up.

Among the headlining acts announced are Mission of Burma, Blitzen Trapper, Disappears, White Lung, U.S. Girls, Elliott Brood, Power Trip, Shannon & the Clams, Bass Drum of Death and a whole bunch more.

The announcement also includes Saskatoon acts Shooting Guns and Slow Down Molasses.

Sled Island promoters have already announced several of the festival’s promoters, which includes acts like Spiritualized, Neko Case, Rocket From The Crypt, St. Vincent, Touché Amoré, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Rhye, Killer Mike, Earthless, Bob Mould and Chelsea Wolfe. Additionally, guest curator Kathleen Hanna will be performing with The Julie Ruin and the festival will also feature a screening of the documentary based on her life, The Punk Singer.

Exciting!

For those not (yet) in the know, Sled Island Music & Arts Festival brings together over 250 bands in more than 30 venues across Calgary.

But more importantly, if you are savvy enough, you can see bands play in a hotdog restaurant, which is worth the price of admission (and gas) alone.
