Saskatoon reigns supreme at Calgary indie rock Festival
Sled Island, Calgary’s premiere music and arts festival which runs from June 19 – 22, has revealed their extended line-up.
Click HERE for the extended line-up.
New headliner alert: hardcore punks Off have been added to an already amazing list of big names, which includes the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain, Explosions in the Sky, Swans, Divine Fits, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Iceage, Superchunk, Mac DeMarco, Colin Stetson, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Torche, Metz, Tim Hecker, Thee Oh Sees, The Night Marchers, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, John K. Samson, Mount Eerie and more.
And among the many, many others announced, there is plenty of Saskatoon in the list:
Young Benjamins
Deep Dark Woods
Caves
Economics
Black Magic Pyramid
Shooting Guns
Powder Blue
Slow Down, Molasses
The Seahags
The Wizards
Foam Lake
Adolyne
And from Regina… Andy Shauf. Which makes me think we missed other bands from the Queen City. And Northcote is kind of a Saskatchewan dude, but he doesn’t live here anymore.
Entering its seventh year, Sled Island is always tonnes of fun and is a good excuse to ride bikes drunkenly around Calgary. Plus the line-up of this year’s headlining acts is absolutely bonkers. See you there?
We’re bummed we didn’t get to go last year, but you can read our review of our antics at 2011’s Sled Island Part 1 HERE and Part 2 HERE.
