Download of the Week: Craft Singles

0

Chalk up a big fat win for Craft Singles (where is this label based out of anyway? Halifax? Montreal?). The label recently released a series of cassette singles in some hand-screenprinted packaging featuring some of the most groin-churning proto-punk eastern Canada has to offer.

While the bands ran the entire gamut of lo-fi weirdo punk – favourites include Lantern’s garage rock-meets-Motorhead and Omma Cobba’s murky minimalist take on the blues – there is an element of fuzzed-out psych haze that somehow unifies all the groups into the same scene despite their regional inclinations.

Apparently the cassettes come with a download card for a video and an instant download from Bandcamp so you might want to look into that.
