The community stage returns! Sign up at the merch table if you’d like to read. Please keep what you share to 1 or 2 poems, or no more than 7 minutes, to make space for everyone. Our feature will be Veracity!
Veracity grew up in Ottawa, carries a bit of Scotland in her pockets, and has learned to love her Regina. She got into slam poetry in 2014 because she likes to try things that scare her, like skydiving, improv, and eye contact. Veracity has been on 2 CFSW teams (Regina Word Up 2015/2016), won the 2016 Saskatchewan Festival of Words slam, and has performed at a number of fundraisers for things she cares about, like mental health awareness and support for queer youth. When not writing odes to people, politics or pizza pops, Veracity helps organize spoken word events as a member of the Regina Word Up Collective. She is very excited to have been selected for the new 2017 Saskatoon Poetic Arts Festival coming in May, and not only because “SPAF” reminds her of “spackle,” which is really fun to say. Veracity will never have the last word because she is always trying to find a better one.
