We’re back for another warm round of poetry this long weekend Sunday! Bring your words to share on the community stage. We are certainly thankful for the poetry community in this here town. We are also thankful that Vancouver’s Pamela Bentley will be swinging through town to share her work with us!
Pamela Bentley is a poet, writer, workshop facilitator, radio host and a short-film producer. She was born in the bayous of Louisiana, raised on the Canadian Prairies, ripened along the Ottawa and Rideau rivers, and steeped in India and the American Southwest.
She co-hosts with RC Weslowski and Kevin Spenst the weekly poetry program Wax Poetic on Vancouver Co-op Radio, which was recently listed as one of the Top 10 Poetry Podcasts by Writer’s Digest. She organizes and hosts the (mostly) monthly ‘Chicken Sessions’ poetry and performance event at her home in East Vancouver. She is also Managing Director of the Verses Festival of Words (http://versesfestival.ca/).
In 2016, she completed the Century Challenge — 100 poems without repeating on VanSlam stages — becoming the only centurionatrix in North America. She has published four chapbooks of poetry, her most recent Sea, Sky and Everything in Between in September 2017.
She believes poetry is a conversation and performance at its best is about connection.
