Tommy Alto, PandaCorn and Friends of Foes at Vangelis

Tommy Alto (Vancouver) – They strive to keep their songs as enigmatic as they are catchy, combining emotionally engaging vocals with angular guitar riffs, held together by a liberatingly adventurous rhythm section. “Vampire Weekend meets This Town Needs Guns at a Minus the Bear concert” might come close to summing it up.
Friends of Foes (Saskatoon) – Hailing from the heart of the Canadian prairies in Saskatoon, Friends of Foes hit their listeners with a roaring wall of sonic talent. From soft, gentle melodies to a full on audio assault, the heavy drum lines and harmony-laden choruses from these newcomers can be anything but subtle.
PandaCorn (Moose Jaw) – PandaCorn is the brilliant result of the combined creative restlessness of a country sweetheart and a ’70s-inspired guitar hero. Unicorn-clad and panda-suited, Megan Nash and Brodie Mohninger serve up harmonized sincerity on a bed of synth bass and wet guitar lines. But looking beyond the quirky stage-wear and your gyrating limbs, you will notice that there is really nothing childlike or candy-coated about PandaCorn.
