The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui at Persephone Theatre
January 12, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - January 14, 2018 @ 10:00 pm
Brecht wrote Arturo Ui in 1941 while waiting for a visa to enter the USA. It parodies the series of events by which Hitler was allowed to come to power. It sounds the alarm against the complacency of believing that the events of that era could never be repeated at another time in another place.
In these strange days when we can hardly believe what we see happening south of our border, our very existence as artists makes a demand of us to frame a response. This will be Persephone’s. Tickets: $15 (3 Nights Only)
The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui can also be purchased as part of our ON THE EDGE package, which also includes Butcher and Onegin – visit http://persephonetheatre.org/events/on-the-edge-package to book 3 gripping shows for only $79/$65 seniors and students. (Use coupon code “ONTHEEDGE”)
** Pre-Show Lobby Exhibition and Post-Show Talkbacks will be scheduled during the 3 night run of this provocative staged reading.
