Sparky and the Plugs – (Saskatoon)
Sparky and the Plugs are known for their four-part harmonies and strong, vibrant instrumentals. Growing up singing and playing in the Mennonite church, harmonies were a way of life. Although sacred music was an early influence, bluegrass, blues, and good old rock and roll have also played their part. With Zac Schellenberg on lead guitar, Curtis Wiens on lead banjo, Jill Wiens on lead mandolin and Clay Buhler on lead bass, Sparky and the Plugs will put your toes to tapping and your heart to singing with fun and good humour thrown in for free.
They are a tight-knit group… just don’t ask which one is Sparky.
Post Script – (Edmonton)
Post Script are young, charming musicians, writing and performing songs like old souls for modern times. Considered “one of Edmonton’s hidden gem bands” (CBC.ca), the distinct flavour of Post Script is coming out of hiding and finding an audience. Their debut album “‘If Not For You’ embodies the traditional Canadian oscillation between urban living and rural retreat, it also captures the spirit of the nation’s linguistic divide.” (Grayowl Point, Oct.20/2015)
