Jonathan Crow, violin
It has been far too long since Saskatoon audiences have heard Brahms’s violin concerto. When the SSO decided to bring it back to the stage for the first time in over two decades, we wanted to make it a special performance. We knew we had to have Canadian violin superstar Jonathan Crow to bring this Brahms piece to life. Crow is one of the most highly respected musicians in the country and this performance marks his first time with the SSO.
Sibelius’s music captures the freshness and steadfast emotions of the north. His fifth symphony brings you to the shores of Finland and lets you stare directly into the sea. The composer himself said he wanted to create something “more vivid.”
