Rococode’s strength lies in the contrast between dark and light. Andrew Braun and Laura Smith infuse hook-filled songs with lush synths and duet vocals, resulting in an infectious sound that mirrors their contrasting personalities. The new EP Young Ones highlights this chemistry by fusing exploratory tendencies with razor-sharp pop sensibilities.
Castle River is a Saskatoon Duo that has been electrifying crowds with their syncopated rhythms, brotherly-like harmonies, and monstrously full sound, since late 2010.
The duo is Matt Castle on the guitar, Billy Rivers on the drums, and both trading vocal duties. You can hear the countless hours they’ve spent honing their craft since they began playing together in bands since they were kids.
In the last 3 years Castle River has spent their time playing with many local and touring bands. With each gig the band has been winning over new fans and watching the old fans come back out to hear more. The band has shared the stage with Zeus, Reignwolf, Foam Lake, Hey! Ocean, and The Darcys to name a few. Recently they have showcased at Sled Island in Calgary, played Ness Creek, Gateway Festival, JunoFest, and embarked on a month-long tour across Canada.
It’s obvious that Castle River has no intention of being only a local phenomenon. March 2012 the CBC Radio asked Castle River to be part of their special, On A Cold Road (alumni include The Sheepdogs, Deep Dark Woods, Reignwolf). The special, airing all over Canada, and internationally via the podcast, further points to this fact that this duo is poised for much bigger things. https://www.facebook.com/CastleRiver/ https://castleriver.bandcamp.com/
