…country music as it was meant to be played – Alex MacPherson, Verb Magazine, Regina Saskatchewan Canada
Quinton Blair is a strikingly diverse roots country artist. Q, as he is often called, is a songwriter and guitarist who has worked on internationally acclaimed albums which include nominations for Grammy, Juno, and Western Canadian Music Awards. Q travels Western Canada working with some of the biggest names in the Canadian roots scene including Del Barber, Corb Lund, The Bros Landreth, as well as mainstream acts Doc Walker, George Canyon and Emerson Drive. Influenced by the likes of Rodney Crowell, Hayes Carll and Dwight Yoakam, his brand of “real” country music casts a wide loop, captivating audiences with witty stories and relatable songs.
In a saturated world of singer/songwriters, notable diversions are increasingly rare. Purdy Bird is one such diversion. With songs about life’s
unwelcome dynamics, Troy Hudson’s compelling voice provides a soulful layer to his music. Unorthodox guitar melodies sustain the arguably uneasy alliance between raw lyrics and sweet vocals. Peter Abonyi’s lush guitar melodies playfully add to the atmosphere, while musical depth is anchored by a solid yet sensitive rhythm section brought to you by the Brett Williams on percussion and Jay Metheral on Bass. Purdy Bird offers audiences a time-spanning experience, featuring contemporary innovations on traditional musical styles.
