Old Cabin + Corey Isenor + Twin Voices + Keith Miller at The Undergound
November 14, 2013 @ 8:00 pm - 11:55 pm
Come out for an evening of great music and stellar atmosphere at The Underground Cafe. Old Cabin, hailing from the Yukon, and Corey Isenor of The East Coast have come together for a cross-Canada tour.
Old Cabin is the moniker of Jona Barr. Since the genesis of Old Cabin in 2010, he has gained fast and steady ground across Canada, Having two releases under his belt (including a split EP with Old Time Machine), two cross canadian tours, playing music festivals such as Dawson City Music Festival and opening for Minotaurs, Geoff Berner, Greg Macpherson, ect . Old Cabin will be touring his debut self-titled LP recorded by Jordy Walker (Kim Barlow/Old Time Machine/The Burning Hell)
From Enfield, Nova Scotia, Corey now lives in LaHave of the same province. Before that, throughout his 6 years in Sackville, NB he recorded and released three full-length albums, the most recent of which is entitled ‘The Hunting Party’. The album was supported with a well deserved summer tour across Eastern Canada in 2012. This past year has found him working on his most ambitious and developed album to date. Entitled ‘Hollowbody’, it was recorded and mixed by Diego Medina at the Old Confidence Lodge in Riverport, NS, mastered by Andy Magoffin at the House of Miracles in Cambridge, ON, and is soon-to-be released for this tour.
Twin Voices is an indie folk project with roots in the Ottawa Valley and wings in Montreal. Laura Beach crafts a dark and lovely sound with live looping of violin, voice, percussion and guitar. Her performance is equal parts stunning simplicity and playful complexity.
“Local musician Keith William Miller takes his authenticity-steeped grade of folk to a new level when it comes to producing music, as evidenced by his debut EP, Poetry for the Glass Half-Empty. There’s really nothing artificial about it—no synthesized sounds, no auto-tuned vocals, no laptop-inspired beats. Just raw, stripped down instruments and poetry.”
