MoSoFEST is very happy to welcome Saskatoon ex-pats and recent Juno nominees Mahogany Frog with guests The Basement Paintings to our 2014 festival.

Both Mahogany Frog and The Basement Paintings will be taking advantage of the Refinery venue space to present special multi-media shows with video projected alongside their music.

Winnipeg’s Mahogany Frog push the boundaries of “electronic music.” Rooted in the extreme talents of the band’s four members and carried through with influences from ’60s psychedelia, electronica, ’70s progressive rock, jazz, 50’s “ultra” lounge and ambient/experimentalism Mahogany Frog is bound to impress. With fuzzed out bass, feedbacked guitar riffs and an arsenal of electronics the band produces a sound that freely explores musical elements such as tone, mood and composition.

The Basement Paintings
Saskatoon’s Basement Paintings weave hypnotic layers of post-metal, electronic and ambient sounds to create complex and rich songs. Through their densely textured music the band explores themes of humanity’s connection to nature, effects of technology and the meaning of modern human progress, ultimately creating a musical artefact for the future.
