This Montreal band places an emphasis on melody, ensuring that it rises above any kind of pedal affects or guitar distortion. Known for creating intense rock songs that incite excitement from the crowd, Solids are a band that aims to have as much fun as their fans are having. Infectious and high energy is the name of the game for these dudes, and if you’re looking to feel alive, just pop one of their tunes on and get your feet moving.
Ever since these four guys from Saskatoon released their first album, Timbers, in early 2013, Close Talker has been collecting praises from music fans across the country. Being compared to Half Moon Run, Local Natives and other popular indie rock bands, Close Talker creates catchy and unforgettable tunes.
Six Moons Later
Forming in 2012, Six Moons Later features Anna Haverstock on guitar and lead vocals, Laura Beach on bass and vocals and Matthew McLaughlin on drums. Feeding off of each other’s distinct take on creativity, the Saskatoon band writes songs that are an interesting mix of beach rock grooves and post-modern folk arrangements that culminate into a musical love letter to everything reminiscent of the early 90s grunge scene.
Once you hear the eclectic energy of Calgary’s 36? you can easily understand why they’ve been compared to classic indie rock bands such as Ween or the Flaming Lips. Bouncing from genre to genre, 36? creates a day dream of pop funk tunes that stick in your head the way any good earworm should. Lately 36? is planning on taking the Canadian music scene with full force, bringing their music and message of good times from coast to coast.
Saskatoon’s Future Forests hit the scene in early 2014 with a one-two punch of fevered indie rock and meandering post rock soundscapes. Inspired by a mutual appreciation for architecture, design and art, the four-piece mixes each member’s diverse musical backgrounds to produce an eclectic collection of songs. Looking to keep their forward momentum, Future Forests has plans to record and release a debut album in 2014.
