Factor’s production combines smooth melodic samples and live instruments over immaculate drums put together seemingly effortlessly to create a distinct sound of his own and it’s for this reason he’s consistently banging out one-of-a-kind beats as one of underground music’s favorite new school producers. Factor is always trying to create original, thought-provoking music that pushes the envelope of traditional hip-hop and has drawn significant attention to this Canadian artist. Hailing from the prairies, this Saskatoon, SK born and raised musician continues to make waves with his innovative sound.
2 time – WCMA “Rap Recording of the year” Nominee, Def3, is a Canadian hip hop artist who has gained International notoriety with his music playing over 100 shows a year around the globe, showcasing at festivals such as SXSW, MIDEM, 2010 Winter Olympics (Sask. Pavilion Headliner), JUNOFEST, NXNE, CMW, Breakout West and more. His contagious songs are amplified by his highly energetic & interactive performance. His newest album “WILDLIF3″ produced by Factor set to be released June 24th on URBNET.
Take one old beat up acoustic guitar, add a dash of keyboard sounds playing off a discman, mix in one old chud, bake for 30 minutes and you’ve got BA Johnston. Originally from Hamiltion, Ontario Johnston is known for quick paced songs about love and food (and sometimes love for food) that wind up any crowd into sing-a-longs and bathroom dance parties.
We Were Lovers
We Were Lovers’ (WWL) dancey beats, swirling atmospheric guitars, and dynamic synths convey a wide array of moods and themes, as strong female vocals wrap stories of love and loss around catchy melodies. With comparisons such as “… Stevie Nicks-meets-The Cure pop” by The Austinist.com, Ash Lamothe and Elsa Gebremichael have mastered a pop balance infusing electro, dreamy, rock and disco elements. Known for their high energy live show, this duos undeniable connection radiates from the stage.
For Saskatoon’s Caves, sound is meant to be played with. Leaning on a lo-fi base for their tunes, the foursome are known for their ability to generate captivating sound experiments and manipulations to create a unique musical style that straddles the gap between psychedelic rock and pop.
