Megan Nash, Two Bears North, Revenge of the Trees and Old Cabin at Vangelis
September 30, 2014 @ 10:00 pm
Singer songwriter Megan Nash combines an honest insight into a young woman’s old soul with a powerful, moving voice. Raised in rural Saskatchewan, her lyrics carry a prairie imagery and her vocals have the character of a familiar gravel road.
Two Bears North
Sophie Heppell and Melissa Walker have spent the last six years perfecting the formula that was to become Two Bears North. Heppell’s melodic sense and Walker’s incomparable groove have made Two Bears North unstoppable. Their nine song debut album shows the pair in fine form. Comeocean is a unification of a yearning for the ocean and the commotion of an obsessive and neurotic mind.
Revenge of the Trees
When singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Mikey Muscat first arrived in Edmonton, AB in Sept 2010 from Toronto, he had no friends, no money and no band. Now he has almost all of those. Combining aspects of rock, soul, dirty blues and danceable prog with a quirky yet thought provoking lyrical blend, Revenge of the Trees is a beautiful swamp water of heart and soul. With the preparation of their first EP for release, they are continuing their slow and steady growth through the top soils of Canada’s music scene and beyond.
If you missed him at MoSoFest or that sweet backyard show at The Horse Room this is your third (and likely last for a while) chance to catch Old Cabin. If you were at either, I know you’ll want to see him again.
“Old Cabin…is soulful, sincere folk music, gently steeped in old-time traditions without re-treading tracks. This is folk music done without pretension.” – BeatRoute
