Bob Margolin Duo and Brian McAreavey at Park Town Hotel
February 27, 2015 @ 8:00 pm
Well known as a member of the Muddy Waters Band from 1973 to 1983, Margolin tours worldwide today as a band leader and guest with both legendary and contemporary musicians. One of those high-profile gigs was a tribute to Muddy at the 1984 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival where Pinetop Perkins and Margolin added on to The Fabulous Thunderbirds, with Etta James singing, and Taj Mahal and James Cotton opening. The Bob Margolin Band opened shows for Stevie Vaughan, George Thorogood, Johnny Winter, and The T-Birds.
If that’s not enough to have you itching to hear the band or the duo performance, Margolin played 14 times at the Handy Awards (now called Blues Music Awards) in Memphis, often leading an all-star band and performing with the likes of Scotty Moore, Joe Louis Walker, Diunna Greenleaf, Shemekia Copeland, Marcia Ball, Tracy Nelson, Reba Russell, Kim Wilson, Snooky Pryor, Charlie Musselwhite, Chris Layton, Pinetop Perkins, Gaye Adegbalola, Rod Piazza, Dr. John, Ronnie Earl, Duke Robillard, Willie Kent, and Willie “Big Eyes” Smith.
