Aryn El Hefe
Aryn El Hefe takes listeners on a sojourn that includes late-night heart-to-hearts, a road trip in a dusty car with a broken air conditioner and a hissy cassette tape collection of the most exquisite guitar-driven folk you’ve never heard. And, of course, a tiny splash of lovelorn feels, as evidenced on the achey-swing of “Back Porch,” which sees El Hefe poking at the scab of a curiously still-beating-yet-bruised heart…
Hailing from a dairy farm in Northern Saskatchewan, 20-year-old hip-swinger-folk-singer Ellen Froese is not Joan Baez or a sheep, but her vibrato may tell otherwise. Ellen draws primary musical influence from folksters such as Pete Seeger, Leonard Cohen, and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, but doesn’t forget a pinch of anything from Bowie to Buddy to Bruce. Whether performing a traditional tune or a freshly penned original, Ellen never fails to captivate a crowd with her raw honesty and striking originality.
