While the band is on hiatus as members become scattered across the country Anna has grown her roots in the local scene opening countless shows and playing open stages. Anna has been honing her craft and finding her place as one of the best young solo performers in town.
Hip-swinger, folk-singer Ellen Froese Kooijenga is not Joan Baez, or a sheep, but her vibrato may tell otherwise. Ellen draws primary influence from folksters such as Pete Seeger, Donovan, and Jack Elliot, with a sprinkling of anything from Bowie to Buddy Holly to Springsteen. She keeps her sound unique, whether performing a cover of an old traditional tune, or a fresh new original. After releasing an album with her trio of old-tyme toe tappers, In With the Old, Ellen released her first solo album, “Get On With the Blues” in December of 2015. In Terry Pugh of Clark’s Crossing Gazette’s words, ‘(Ellen has) superb songwriting skills, versatile musicianship, and an unforgettably sweet voice’. In March of 2016, she embarked on her first solo tour across Eastern Canada.
