Pimpton teams with Shantel Stewart on “My Day” single

Regina rapper releases “My Day” single from upcoming full-length album

Pimpton, a Regina hip-hop artist, recently dropped “My Day”, which features vocals from Shantel Stewart. The song comes in advance of his upcoming album Killa Call Me Killa Vol. 2, which is expected to be released this fall.

Pimpton, aka Kyriel Roberts, has kept a high profile as of late, having released two albums in 2013 – The Deal Breaker: Manifest Destiny in February 2013, followed by Killa Call Me Killa Vol. 1 in September 2013.

And on “My Day”, the Regina-based rapper blasts through muscular salvos of dense rhymes that detail the struggles of getting noticed as an artist. “Rewarded by the thought of one day being well-regarded / he said I’m gonna make it happen / and so the story started,” says Roberts in the opening pep talk. The song is similarly propelled by Stewart’s haunting vocal delivery, which gives the single an almost gospel like quality.
