Band Swap registration goes down on December 7
If you aren’t ready for the 2013 edition of Band Swap then get ready.
Every year the event sells out waaaay in advance and the musician registration is a one-minute golden window of opportunity.
For those still not yet in the know, or new to the game, a bunch of local musicians are randomly assembled into bands at a swap meet, where they are assigned several cover songs. Each band then has 24 hours to master their songs – or figure out some way to butcher them completely and appropriately.
Trust us: this is the most fun you will have all year. Get ready now.
Here’s how!
Registration
Email Alison and Mairin at [email protected] at 12:00 noon on December 7th, 2013 (CST). There are 28 spots available. Participants are registered on a first-come, first-serve basis and the queue usually fills up within minutes. “Set those calendar alerts,” says Alison. (Also, early registrations are disqualified.)
In order to be eligible, participants need to play at least one instrument, which they can supply themselves. ‘The Human Voice’ doesn’t count on its own (but is a helpful addition). Participants must be available from 6:00 pm for the swap meet on December 27th and morning until showtime on December 28th.
Also required: a great attitude and a penchant for all things classic rock/rap/pop or anything else that gets thrown at you.
Tickets
Tickets are $15 and will go on sale Monday, December 9th. Approximately 200 tickets will be released on Ticketedge.ca at noon and the remaining 100 will be for sale at Amigos.
This year’s proceeds will benefit the Saskatoon Crisis Nursery and the SPCA.
