Northcote releases new LP on Black Box Recordings: Download of the Week

Ex-Regina singer/songwriter drops self-titled record

Northcote, the moniker of singer/songwriter Matt Goud, is about to drop his second LP on Black Box Recordings.

Goud previously put in time in the Regina hardcore band Means, who broke up in 2008. He is now based out of Victoria.

And on his latest record, Goud harnesses his inner Springstreen – expect plenty of heartfelt vocal crescendos and anthemic fist-pumping.

On lead single “How Can You Turn Around” Goud manages to combine bro-rock whoa-oh-ohs and make them sound positively jubilant.

The punks, hopefully, should still dig it. But with this album, Goud sounds like he would be just at home in front of a folk festival audience.

Northcote will be launching a summer tour this May, with several stops in Saskatchewan, including a slot at the Regina Folk Festival.
