Saskatoon punk rock covers show nets over $800 for charity
“So it’s halloween
And you feel like dancin’
And you feel like shinin’
And you feel like letting loose”
– “Halloween”, Dead Kennedys
On Friday, October 26, Vangelis hosted Punk Rock Halloween. Local skid musicians formed cover bands and everyone got rip-roaring trashed and danced their balls off.
And the best part? Around $800 was raised for the Saskatoon Crisis Nursery. Go Saskatoon!
But the other best part, aside from all the haphazard music, was how much fun everyone had. I haven’t seen people lose their shit like that in a long time. Like my boss said to me, over blasts of guitar squalls and mic hollars, “it’s just not a Saskatoon punk show without some guy waving around a canoe paddle in the pit.”
Amen.
